                   Our School Tour

On Tuesday the 6th of September  our class went on our first school trip. We went on the public bus into town. We saw the Spire in O'Connell street. We were invited to a creative writing centre called Fighting Words which was  invented by Roddy Doyle.  Fighting Words is a place where you create your own stories.

When we arrived we were standing  in a very small room.
We were given nametags and  Fran took our pictures. To open the  magic door the boys hit their knees like a drumroll and the girls said the magic words " hocus pocus abracadabra bidadbobadboo".  Suddenly a magic door opened and we entered a lovley writing studio. We sat down and Alex helped us agree on the main characters and a title. There was an illustrator and a typist . The story we created was called " Jesse the Horse and  the 37-metre long Cod". The first half we did as a class but the second half we wrote on our own.

    When we
had all finished our story it got published and our pictures were on the back. After we had left Fighting words we went to the Garden of Remembrance . We stood where the Queen and Mary Mac Alease stood.  After eating our lunch under the statues of Finola, Fiachra and Conn from the Children of Lir and having paid a visit to the Hugh Lane Gallery, tired, we mounted the 16a once again and set off for home.

We visited the park and completed a nature trail where we studied the river and studied the trees.
