Biodiversity

We are now working on our 5th Green Flag - Biodiversity.  Biodiversity means everything that grows or lives in or around our school.  We will be working on many projects over the next two years focussing on our local environment and how to protect it.

Scarecrows:
We had great fun making our class scarecrows.  Thanks to the parents association for all their help.

Visits to the park
Many classes visited the park during autumn.
The two fifth classes completed a nature trail of St. Enda's, where they carried out a river study and a tree study.

The two senior infant classes visited the nature room in St. Enda's and explored the park aswell.

National Tree Day
On Thursday 6th October we took some tree rubbings and studied and hugged the trees in our school grounds.

OWLS
Andrew Fleming is working with the children from the two fourth classes and the two second classes this year. The children are involved in a series of workshops. They are learning about the local environment. They are visiting the local park,St. Enda’s, during every season and exploring the differences in our environment in each season. Andrew’s enthusiasm is contagious!!!
The first visit took place in September.

Junior Infants visit the park and learn about autumn.
