Parents Association



    Here at the Divine Word National School we have a very active and successful Parents Association (PA). The PA works closely with the staff and adds an extra dimension to the school with a busy calendar of events through the school year.

Enrolment for extra-curricular classes will take place on Tuesday 13th September at 7:30 pm in the school hall.

September: Enrolment for after-school classes (run by the PA). For the 2011/2012 year we have the following classes on offer:
Irish Dancing, Boys Gym, Speech & Drama, Guitar, Keyboard, Violin, Computer, Chess, Girls Gym, Hockey, Tae Kwondo, Art, Playball, Knitting
 
November: Christmas Fair
 
December: Disco
 
January: Enrolment for new term of after-school classes
 
February: Our ever-popular Table Quiz
 
March-June: PA provides refreshments for Communion/Confirmation/School Sports Days and 6th Class graduation.
 
May: AGM - All welcome.
 
The PA offer a variety of ways in which parents can get involved ranging from volunteering for various sub-committees such as MASC (Music, Art, Sport & Culture, this team organises events for pupils throughout the year from Music and Drama workshops to skipping and poetry).

We are also delighted to welcome parents who may wish to help at any event throughout the year such as the Christmas Fair, or who may be able to offer to supervise for an hour or two a term at the extra-curricular classes. (All classes are run by teachers but we need parents to be present in lobby to supervise children going to and coming from classes)

PA meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of every month at 8:30pm in the school library. They are open to any parent/guardian who wishes to attend and we are always happy to see new faces…there is no pressure to get involved and if you have a query or just want to see what goes on please join us.
