We are delighted to announce that our fourth class choirs will be performing at the annual gala concert of the Rathfarnham Concert Bands which will take place at the National Concert Hall on Tuesday November 28th.  The Divine Word choir will join with the choirs of St. Mary’s BNS and Loreto GNS Grange Road to form a combined children’s choir of over 130 pupils. This is a very exciting venture as it is the first time that our school has been invited to partake and the first time that a choir combining the three schools has been put together. The theme for the concert is ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ and on the night the choir will perform a number of traditional festive songs and seasonal songs from stage and screen, conducted by Ms. Caitríona Ní Threasaigh. The choir of Loreto High School Beaufort and all bands of the Rathfarnham Concert Band Society will also perform in the concert which promises to be a great night’s entertainment for all the family. This is a fabulous opportunity for children from Divine Word to perform on the stage of one of Ireland’s most prestigious music venues. Tickets for the concert are available from the NCH Box Office: 01 4170000 and www.nch.ie

Halloween Competition Winners

This year the Student Council decided that the classes would be asked to make their own Halloween costume.  The standard was extremely high and we were disappointed we couldn’t get everyone a prize!!  The hours of work that must of gone into making the costumes were evident.  Take a look at the winners – amazing job everyone – Well Done!!

Annual Sixth Class Cake Sale
Annual Sixth Class Cake Sale

The two sixth classes held their annual cake sale on the 19th October. The two chosen charities this year were The Laura Lynn Foundation and Irish Autism Action. It was a roaring success and they raised over 2000 euro to be shared between these two worthy causes. Many thanks to all who baked and brought in cakes and raffle prizes. It was greatly appreciated. Thanks also to John our caretaker and Ms Nolan who were invaluable on the day. A massive well done to our sixth classes who put so much thought into their preparations and worked tirelessly all day. Check out our gallery for some snaps from the cake sale!DSCF9611 DSCF9612 DSCF9613 DSCF9614 DSCF9615 DSCF9616 DSCF9617 DSCF9618 DSCF9619 DSCF9620 DSCF9621 DSCF9622 DSCF9623 DSCF9625 DSCF9626 DSCF9627 DSCF9628 DSCF9629 DSCF9631 DSCF9632 DSCF9633 DSCF9634 DSCF9635
