We held our annual ‘Active Week’ at the beginning of May. It was a huge success! There were several events organised. The whole school was fully engaged in activities throughout the week. Check out some of the events organised below!
Dance Class and Drumming Fitness with Ms Graham
Ms Graham did a super active dance class for our Junior and Senior Infants. She took the older classes for a fantastic 'Drumming Fitness' class. It was a brilliant success and the children loved trying something new!





Table Tennis Takeover
We took part in the ‘Table Tennis Takeover’ initiative, organised by Table Tennis Ireland. 2nd to 6th Classes were given table tennis sessions in the hall, to help improve their skills!



Fun and Games with Mr Brady and Mr Mangan
Our Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Classes were treated to a ‘P.E Games’ session with Mr Mangan or Mr Brady, This was lots of fun!




Park Run, Marley Park
One of the main events of our Active Week was a ‘Park Run’ in Marley Park. The older classes did a 2 kilometre run, while our younger classes ran for 1 kilometre. The walk to and from the park made it a very active day!

Run Around Ireland Challenge
We organised a ‘Run around Ireland Challenge’ for all classes. We used our new Active Walkway as the route to run. Each lap of our walkway is 500 meters. The children ran as many laps as they could each day and kept a tally on the score sheet in the hall.

'Skipathon'
The children were allowed to bring in skipping ropes to use in the yard and at other times throughout the day.


Music on the Yard
The children enjoyed music on the yard at big lunch!
Cross Country Competition
There was a Cross Country Competition for 4th, 5th and 6th class. Our runners had a great day and there were lots of medal won!


Futsal Competition
3rd Class took part in a ‘Futsal’ Competition in our local soccer club, Leicester Celtic. A great day was had by all!

Active Homework
The children were given ‘Active Homework’. See some of the ideas below.

'Class v. Class' Games
We organised ‘Class versus Class’ games, for the older classes. The children played a variety of games such as soccer, basketball, moonball and rounders against the other class in their year group!
Active Walkway
We used our new Active Walkway for various activities such as our Run Around Ireland Challenge and orienteering.

Teachers Versus Students Moonball
The 5th Class students really enjoyed beating the teachers in a game of moonball. Both Mr Timmons and Mr Clabby's classes were the winning teams after two close matches! The rest of the school had a great time watching.
