We would like to say a huge thank you to The Student Council for all of the hard work they have done this year. This year’s Student Council have been exceptional and have achieved so much since they were elected back in September. They have been involved in a number of initiatives throughout the year such as:
Organising a Halloween ‘Scary Story’ and colouring competition.
Raising money for the charity GOAL by hosting a ‘Jersey Day’ for the whole school.
Helping at a number of school events such as ‘European Sports Day’ and ‘Grandparents Day’.
Ensuring the PE equipment room, the library and the Accelerated Reading Programme area were kept clean and tidy.
Contributing many articles to our school newspaper ‘The Divine Word Daily’.
Organising our annual Christmas hamper and Easter egg collections for the charity People Helping Homeless.
Our Student Council also hosted the Student Council from St Colmcille’s NS in Knocklyon, to give them some advice as they have only recently set up their own Student Council.
Most recently, the children on the council have been coming in early every morning to sort out the lunches from the ‘Lunch Bag’ orders. They have done an amazing job making sure everyone has the correct lunch and we really appreciate their hard work and dedication to this early morning job!
As you may know, the school has recently been awarded our first ever ‘Active Flag’. This would not have been possible with out the hard work of the children on our Student Council. They helped to create our fabulous ‘Active Walkway’, conducted surveys to see how active our school was and gave super ideas that made our Active School Week a huge success! Ms Pigott and Mr Mangan are very proud of these wonderful children and would like to say a huge thank you to them all!
