Girls' Soccer Team 2022
We had an exciting final assembly in the Junior Yard today. All the children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class were there. All the staff and representatives from the Parents' Association attended. We celebrated all the sporting achievements during the school year. The McAveny Cup for team sports and the Healy Cup for athletics were awarded to three deserving Sixth class for the excellent achievements and attitude on and off the sports field. Medals were presented to the Girls' Soccer Team who were trained by Ms Lanigan and Mr Brady. Mr Conlon, Mr Fallon, Mr Brady, Ms Lanigan, Mr Timmons, Ms Hynes, Mr Mangan and Mr O'Connell presented awards to the best player and most improved player in both boys' and girls' soccer, football and hurling.
Medals were awarded to the three top Sports Day teams: Spain, Colombia and Italy. A Senior Infant was awarded a scholarship to RATSS by Happy Joe.
The Parents' Association awarded cheques to both Mr Sheanon and Ms Mahony for school resources. A big thank you to them and all the fundraising they organised throughout the year.
Junior Sports Day
What a colourful, fun-filled day. Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class had a fantastic day full of sports and games. Each class participated in lots of many activities: Parachute, Garden Games, Obstacle Race, Peg the Ghost, Musical Chairs, Penalty Shoot-out, Basketball, Oldies but Goodies, Hoop Races and Relay Races. The day ended with the Great Jelly Race. Mums, Dads and the teachers ran the final race. Hopefully there was no muscles pulled. Thanks to all the staff and especially the Sixth Class Helpers for running all the events. Thanks to all the Parents' Association for chopping all the fruit and vegetables for all of our participants.
Fifth Class Cycling Lessons
Fifth Class had seven weeks of cycling lessons. The first five lessons were in the yard. Over the last two weeks, the children have been cycling around the local area.
Fifth class all went on a cycle today with the cycle instructors Mike nad Don. It was lovely to cycle around Marley Grange with all my classmates. Mike and Don told brilliant jokes but were also good instructors. By Aaron Carry (Mr O'Connell's Fifth Class)
Adele from SEAI ran fantastic workshops with Naíonáin Mhóra agus rang a Ceathair. We had so much fun learning about ways to save energy.
Congratulations to Rachel & her horse TONTO who represented our school today at the (Primary) Inter Schools Show Jumping competition @ Killossery Lodge Stud. She had one unlucky pole (4 faults) but was delighted with her performance as she only has the horse since September. Rachel plans on participating in the Inter Schools league (which finishes early February 2022). We wish Rachel and Tonto lots of luck and we look forward to hearing more.
Mr Timmons and Rang a 5 have planted lots of vegetables in our school garden. Take a look in the senior yard!
Fourth Class Author Visit
On Wednesday, 20th October, Ms Hayes's Fourth Class visited Ballyroan Library to meet author Patricia Forde, an author from the West of Ireland. She was terrific with the kids.
We are learning our classroom rules.
Here are some pictures of Ms Murphys class over the last few weeks.
Sweet Sale Fundraiser
The two Sixth classes raised a lot of money at the Sweet Sale on the 21st October 2021 by selling treats and running competitions for the rest of the school. Thye presented their donations to their two chosen charities "Irish Society for Autism" and "Dogs for the Disabled" at Friday's assembly. We are very proud of them...
