Marley’s Got Talent 2016
Marley’s Got Talent 2016 took place on April 28th in the school hall. MGT is a non-competitive full day event providing pupils from 3rd to 6th classes with an opportunity to showcase their talents in a relaxed and fun environment with pupils from junior infants to 2nd classes invited to watch and enjoy.
This year, an unprecenented amount of acts took to the stage and the whole school was entertained with some really great talent which included drama, dance, singing, instrumental music, gymnastics and magic. A huge effort was made by all involved and it truly was a day filled with fun and talent.
Bhíomar ag ceiliúradh ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge’ agus Lá an Fhorógra (Proclamation Day) le ceol, céilí agus Forógra na Scoile, an Briathair Dhiaga á léamh amach. Chaith na páistí éadaí glaise ar an lá sin. Bhí na múinteoirí ag díriú go speisialta ar an nGaeilge labhartha, agus bhí gach páiste ag déanamh iarracht mhór Gaeilge mhaith a labhairt. Tá súil againn iarracht an-mhór a dhéanamh chun feabhas a chur ar chaighdeán na Gaeilge sa scoil. Bhí céilí mór againn sa halla agus bhí gach páiste ag damhsa agus ag rince. Tháinig Alannah Hanley, dálta ón scoil cúpla bliain ó shin, chun taispeántais rince a chur ar siúil do na páistí lena cara Pedro ón mBrasaíl. Rinceoirí den chéad scoth a bhí ann. Bhí páistí ó rang a cúig ag damhsa Baint an Fhéir agus Damhsa na Scuabanna. Tá súil again gur bhain gach duine sult agus suaimhneas as Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016 i Mharlaí.
Tuesday March 15th, 2016 is Proclamation Day. On this day we held a flag raising ceremony, sang the National Anthem and students read the Proclamation. Each class had created their own proclamation for a new Generation and we shared our class proclamations for 2016. We also held a céile and every class in the school took part.
Jungle Dave visited our school on Wednesday 9th March. Dave explained how the animals hunt, how they perceive the world, how they use their senses, what they eat, how they eat and how they catch their prey. The students then had the unique experience of handling and touching crocodile’s tarantulas, scorpion’s, snakes and large lizards. A big thank you to our parents’ association for arranging this event.
The official opening of our new school extension took place on Friday 15th January. Mr Alex White officially opened the building and Bishop Eamon Walsh blessed our new building. Well done to the 3rd, 4th , 5th and 6th classes for their excellent behaviour and beautiful singing.
