Congratulations to all those pupils who received zero absence awards this year – 73 in total.
Our attendance record for the year was 97%. Well done to parents and children.
I would like to remind you that children must be ‘signed out’ at Reception if leaving the school during the day. This must be done by a parent or responsible adult over 18 years of age and who is known to the school. I would also like to remind you that older siblings under the age of 18 can collect children from school with written permission from their parents.
If you require passport forms signed, please ensure you make an appointment with the school office. Please also note that both parents/guardians must be present to sign their section of the form as the Passport Office do random checks that signatures were witnessed by the Principal.
Many congratulations to all our past pupils who received awards and prizes in many of the secondary schools in the area.
Language and Literacy Curriculum:
During the next school year we will be continuing to introduce the new Language and Literacy Curriculum encompassing both English and Irish. The teaching staff in the school have already received In-service days on the oral language, writing and reading strands of the curriculum from Junior Infants to 2nd class. Further details can be found on www.ncca.ie or www.education.ie. We are also re-engaging in the School Self Evaluation (SSE) process with a specific focus on oral Irish and will be incorporating this curriculum into our deliberations and planning.
We would like to thank our cohort of parent volunteers who have been working hard in our school library. We thank Simon Suttle, Sinéad Kelleher, Ruth Cronin, Tanya Cunningham and Susan O’Keeffe. Míle Buíochas also to Ms Ní Threasaigh for all her hard work in co-ordinating this project.
